“Some clients do not want people to see them walking into an ART room. But following the rehabilitation of the maternity wing, the hospital is planning to return to the wing,” said Kamzati.
One client from Mwanyiri Village said she was not comfortable with the improvised room, adding that it placed their status in the spotlight in the area.
“Once you walk into that room, everyone knew that you were going to get ARVs The best place was the room at the maternity wing, where people would not know what you were going to do on that side,” she added.

Another client from John Village said he visits Mulanje District Hospital for ART treatment.
“If I don’t have transport, I stay days without taking medication. I believe once Chambe Health Facility opens the rehabilitated maternity wing, I will be comfortable getting ARVs at the facility and will no longer miss taking drugs,” he said.
